For this project, I needed to create a sculpture by cutting and folding paper. While researching and brainstorming for this project I came across an image where a plain white piece of paper was folded to make a curved strip in the middle. Upon seeing that, I wanted to push that concept further, and see how color could play a role in it. I wanted to play with the boundaries between interconnectivity, 2D, and 3D, while still remaining abstract.
I used double sided neon paper, cut a diagonal strip, and then folded the paper over, creating the curve. After a lot of playing with how multiple pieces could interact with one another, I finally came up with this composition, using only the warm colors included in the pack of neon paper, and contrasting those vibrant colors with the black foam core background.
