Sometimes we plan out a sale, and things don't work out exactly as planned... This sale was planned to be 20% off Unfragranced Candles + a Free White Pumpkin Candle with orders $100+. The campaign was to focus on a lifestyle image of taper candles to highlight the unfragranced part of the sale. When I tested setting up the discounts on our website, Shopify showed a new feature: we could finally combine discounts! So the sale was possible! I set both discounts for 6AM, October 13th.
Before sending out the email, I checked the website to make sure the discounts worked together. They did not work together. Shopify allowed me to schedule them at the same time, but in check out, it would only apply the discount that saved the customer the most money.
So naturally I was a little panicked, but nothing had been promoted just yet. So I brought it to my supervisor's attention, and we decided to drop the unfragranced half of the sale (the half we did have photography for) and push the free White Pumpkin candle with orders $75+. I now had to completely throw out my current email campaign and start new. On the day of the sale.  I pulled together some things in our photo studio and took a lifestyle photo that would be functional in an email format. I was able to get something put together and approved to send by 2PM!

This candle was a large account item and not branded for retail and wholesale purposes and was only available online during the sale. For these reasons,  we didn't want to add it to our social media as a permanent post. We decided that adding the photo as a promotional story would be more appropriate. The product page was only live during the sale. It was archived on October 17th at 12:00AM.
